Computer Centre of the Technical University of Lodz is a separate unit serving the whole
University. Its main task is to provide continuous communication between the Technical
University and the world.
The Centre provides the employees nad students with the possibility of using the following
services available in widearea computer networks:
- sending and receiving the e-mail
- file transfer
- exchange of information in interactive mode - including teleconferences via IRC
- remote introduction and realization of tasks on remote computers
- interactive (on-line) working on remote computers - telnet
- accessibility to remote applications - among others, to chosen data bases
The basic activity of the Computer Centre involves the development and expansion,
exploitation and administration of the University Computer Network.
Currently, the
Centre is developing the application programs in the University Network in cooperation
with the Metropolitan Computer Network Division involving the implementation of the new
widearea network services, as well as with the
Main Library and the University
Administration involving the implementation of the network data bases.
Apart from providing services, the Centre distributes the software on each computer
within the Technical University.
The Centre also develops its activities outside the
University range, meeting the demands of the city economy market.
