| Metropolitan Area Network LODMAN in Lodz is under the management of the Metropolitan Area Network Division, which
is the subsidiary of the
Computer Centre at the Technical University of Lodz.
The main tasks of MAN LODMAN are as follows:
- Integration of the subscribers‘ hardware and software resources nationwide
- Creation of VLAN virtual networks consisting of LAN subscribers scattered all over the city area
- Establishing communications within computer networks of the various operators
- Providing access to Internet network and its hardware and software resources and services
- Providing advisory services, designing and consulting as regards local and wide area networks.

Furthermore, LODMAN is developing cooperation with appropriate local initiatives as regards:
- Computerization of libraries with scientific collections thanks to the funds of the Melon Foundation
- Providing accessibility to the catalogues of the Voivodeship Library
- Tele-education
- Cooperation with the City Council and Voivodeship Council as regards the development of TBD/PESEL
information system
- Co-creation of LAN projects and MAN institutions regionally and nationwide
LODMAN Management Centre consists of the staff of the Metropolitan Network Division belonging to the Computer
Centre of the Technical University of £ódŸ. Their task is to manage the current exploitation and supervision of the
network. The
hardware resources consist of control and supervision devices as well as network servers whose task is to
provide services or the network users. |
